The Moriah Hill Resort
is a new 4-star at Kibuye. The hotel has stunning en-suite rooms (16
rooms and 2 suites), restaurant, conference room and an artificial beach.
The hotel has stunning views of lake Kivu.
The Kibuye Guest House is located
besides a small beach with great views and idyllic sunsets. Swimming in
the lake is safe at Kibuye. Kibuye Guest has boats for hire. Kibuye Guest
House is currently closed for renovation.
Hotel Centre Bethanie has a beautiful
location overlooking the lake. The hotel has very friendly staff. It is quite
and ideal for recharging especially after a long drive from Nynugwe Forest.
The views from the hotel are stunning. Some rooms have TV, telephone,
mosquito net. The hotel restaurant has excellent reasonably priced meals. Currently it is the only comfortable
property in the area and the demand is very high. Thus book as early as you can.
Eden Golfe Rock Hotel is offers an alternative if you cannot get a room at
Bethanie. The Hotel is large overlooking the lake but the rooms are not
that great. Some rooms are dump. It was originally built as a hostel for
Chinese road builders.
Home St Jean: This
property is for catholic church ideal for students. The rooms have just
beds and bathrooms are shared. Bring your own toiletries.
Kibuye Tourist
Attractions/Activities/ What to do
Besides swimming, one
can visit the nearby Amahoro ( peace) Island which has a picnic site and
campsite. Other attractions in Kibuye include tea plantations, the
genocide memorial church and Napoleon's hut with its colony of fruit bats.
The Genocide Memorial church( 4,000 people died inside the church). One can
easily organize boat rides to Gisenyi and Cyangugu.
Getting to Kibuye:
Kibuye can be accessed by boat or
road.
Kibuye it connected by a all weather(
tarmac) road to Kigali. The drive from Kigali via Gitarama- takes two
hours and half. The Kibuye - Cyangugu road is corrugated. The drive
from Cyangugu takes 4 Hours. Likewise the drive
Gisenyi-Kibuye road is corrugated and it takes four hours.
You can access Kibuye by boat from
Cyangugu or Gisenyi.
Restaurants
The Moriah Hill Resort
has an excellent restaurant serving a la carte Menu. Likewise the lake
shore restaurant at Centre Bethanie is excellent.
